Newton
December 23, 1938 – May 8, 2025
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 AM Monday, May 12, 2025, at Crestview Baptist Church, 7715 S. Hiwassee Rd, Oklahoma City.
George Wesley Newton, met his savior on May 8, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on December 23, 1938, in Osage, Oklahoma, to Mabel Lorraine and Francis C. Newton. He was a big brother to Charley and Robert Newton. George lived a life marked by devotion to his faith, his family and his community. George graduated from Southeast High School. He became a skilled carpenter, building many houses. He also dedicated part of his life to public service as a fireman, protecting and serving his community.
In 1959, George married the love of his life, Janice Beltz, and together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. He was also a devoted father to his children, Jamie Baty and husband Rod, and Wesley Newton and wife, Dawna. He was a proud grandpa to Amanda and Russ Schwettmann, Brandon Baty, Carissa and Jason Everett, Cole and Emily Newton, and Chloe Newton. He was Papa to 10 great grandchildren- Hannah, Kaylynn, Hayden, Tristan, Aspen, Kamryn, Ryker, Karstyn, Harlie and Brooks. His family was his greatest joy and he cherished every moment spent with them-especially during holiday gatherings where he faithfully read the Christmas story to his grandchildren each year.
A man of deep faith, George loved the Lord and lived out his faith through serving as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
In his free time, George enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, camping, and golfing. He especially loved the outdoors and the quiet beauty of nature, often sharing those experiences with his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Newton, and step father, Conrad Thompson.
George's legacy is one of faith, love, service and family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will continue to honor his example.
