Graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gerald H. Jobe, 2:00 PM October 5, 2012 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens

Gerald Hiram Jobe passed away during the evening of October 1, 2012 with his faithful wife and caregiver, Murlene Black Jobe at his side. He battled the ravages of dementia for the past several years. Gerald was born on April 22, 1922 in Wilson, Oklahoma to Frasher Vester Jobe and Minnie Mae (Taylor) Jobe, who both preceded him in death. His wife Murlene of Oklahoma City, son Allan and wife Carol Jobe of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and daughter Sandra nee Belcher Walters and husband Bud Walters of Prescott Valley, Arizona survive Gerald. Son Gary Belcher preceded him in death. Gerald has four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was blessed with two siblings, Allene Jobe Barron and Tillman Ray Jobe who both preceded him in death. In 1940, Gerald graduated from Foster High School (South OKC). He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II at California's China Lake Naval Station. He always joked that he served in the Navy in the heart of the Mojave Desert never seeing a ship; only sand. He returned from the Navy and began a life long career in the furniture manufacturing industry. He was an avid golfer who scored three hole-in-ones during his golfing career. His father, a devout mason, gave Gerald's middle name (Hiram) to him. Hiram was the chief architect of King Solomon's temple. Hiram denotes fidelity to ones word. Gerald faithfully lived up to Hiram's standard of keeping ones word. He was a member of Myrtle Masonic Lodge #145. He was a past Worshipful Master (1955) of Guthrie Masonic Lodge #35. He was a 60 plus year member of the Guthrie Scottish Rite Consistory. He is also a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. He was referred to as the "Mayor" throughout his neighborhood. He possessed an outgoing personality who never met a stranger.
