GERALD "JERRY" ROYCE SNYDER 01/27/34 – 06/11/25

Gerald Royce Snyder entered this world on January 27, 1934, in rural Orlando, Logan County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Albert Roy Snyder and Ruby Hazel (Scarborough) Snyder. Raised on the Snyder family farm in Orlando, Oklahoma, he attended Mulhall-Orlando schools until his graduation in 1952. He accepted a scholarship to play baseball as a catcher at Oklahoma A & M college (which is now Oklahoma State University). His baseball career ended prematurely with a broken hand. While attending college, he was set up on a blind date where he met his future wife, Mona Lark Milford. It was love at first sight for both. They were married on August 28, 1954, in a formal garden wedding at the Milford family home in Wilson, Oklahoma.

Gerald and Mona lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma while he finished college and welcomed their first daughter, Janna Jilene while there. After graduating in 1956 with his degree in Agricultural Engineering, Gerald was employed by Purina and transferred to Kansas. Gina Lynette was born during their time in Kansas. They later moved to Sioux City, Iowa where Kevin Milford and Dia Monette were born to complete their family. The family also lived in Nebraska and Arkansas before returning to Oklahoma City, and eventually settled for good in Piedmont, Oklahoma in 1975.

Gerald began working in the oil fields as a Roughneck during college, and eventually became a Landman, after retiring from Purina. He began working for his Father-in-Law, Taft Milford, with Milford Corporation, after moving back to Oklahoma. There, he was employed and continued his career through to the age of 91.

Gerald was a true and faithful Christian, actively involving himself and his family in several churches throughout his life. He was a passionate supporter of so many community and charitable organizations, including Kiwanis, St. Jude's, United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Red Cross, UNICEF, American Heart Association, Make-A-Wish, Feed the Children, Wounded Warrior Project, Alzheimer's Association, and so many more. He gave back to his community and was deeply involved in his local and state chapters of Kiwanis as well, serving as President of the Piedmont Kiwanis Club and the Texas-Oklahoma district Lieutenant Governor. He was also a member of the Piedmont School Board and an avid supporter of Oklahoma State University.

Gerald was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was immersed in his children's lives, coaching and supporting anything they were involved in. He was always their greatest cheerleader in life. It didn't stop with his children; he equally adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. To him, each one was a beautiful blessing in his life.

Jerry was greeted in Heaven by his beautiful wife, Mona, as well as his father, mother and sister, Darlene Gale. He is survived by his four children and their families. Janna & John Boyer, and their children, Andrea & Tyson Putthoff, Cassidy & Larry Jackson, Lacy & Brian Rowley, and Amanda & Brack Mosshart. Gina & Danny Jessup and their children, Angela Jessup and Natalie White. Kevin & Melissa Snyder and their children, Kirsten & Trey Floyd, Lauren Snyder, Jennifer & David Conn, Sheridan & Matthew Kahne and Macy Snyder & Joshua Ridge. Dia & Jeff Detwiler and their children, Kayla and Kyle Fultz, Chase Yager & Claire Chilcoat, Jacob and Kennedy Yager and Tresha & Jakeem Wynn. In addition, he leaves behind 24 great-grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by his Sister-in-Law, Maurita Ammons of Abilene, TX.

It was truly an honor to have him on this Earth. He was the kindest, most genuine, selfless, giving person. He was the ideal role model. Jerry was a true treasure that will be deeply missed by all his family, friends and colleagues.

The family has chosen to honor Gerald in a private ceremony at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma.
