Gerlinde Helga Brotherton, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025. She was born in Neckarsulm, Germany on September 30, 1941, to Berta and Eugen Kühner.
Gerlinde immigrated to the United States at the age of 19 and proudly became a naturalized citizen in March of 1968. On December 22, 1975, Gerlinde married the love of her life, Ronnie Brotherton. Together, they shared 27 years of devoted marriage and raised 3 wonderful sons. She enjoyed cheering on Ronnie at the race track, organizing many ski trips where she cultivated countless friendships, and had a passion for raising Dobermans. Gerlinde spent 40+ faithful years as an employee of JC Penney where she built numerous relationships with coworkers and customers of the store.
When not working, she was devoted to her faith and was an active member of St. James Catholic Church. Gerlinde also loved spending time with friends during Wednesday luncheons, enjoyed walking her dogs for hours at a time, and spending time with her grandchildren as "Oma".
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronnie Brotherton; her mother and father, Berta and Eugen Kühner; sister, Irmgard Spohrer; brothers, Albert Kühner, Reinhold Kühner, and Eberhard Kühner.
Gerlinde is survived by her sons Arnie Iago and wife Robin of Newcastle, OK, Tommy Iago and wife Jami of Newcastle, OK, and Kyle Brotherton of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren: Sean Iago and wife Hayley, Adam Iago and wife Rylee, Tyler Iago and wife Taylor, and Morgan Iago; and six cherished great-grandchildren: Brooks and Brody Iago, Ellis and Emmett Iago, Teagan and Tatum Iago; and brother, Rolf Kühner and wife Inge; and countless nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association of Oklahoma in honor of Gerlinde (www.alz.org/oklahoma).
