Harry A. Anderson passed away at home in his sleep on May 10, 2025. He was born in Tulsa, OK on March 4, 1928, to John Albin and Mary Elizabeth (Driver) Anderson, attending Quay High School, Quay, Oklahoma. Within months of graduation, Harry enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, later completing pilot training at Randolph AFB as a member of Class 48 B. Thereafter he received multi-engine training at Barksdale Field, and after transitioning into B-29's, was deployed to Korea in 1950 flying 27 combat missions with the 92nd Bomb Group. Harry stayed in the Air Force until 1976, retiring with the rank of Colonel (Reserves). In 1953 he enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, where met the love of his life, Carol S. Johnson, also becoming a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Harry and Carol married in 1955, welcoming daughter, Cherie in 1956 and Mike in 1959. Harry flew as a corporate pilot for Standard Oil of Ohio from 1957 to 1972, and then joined Kerr-McGee Corp. in 1973, retiring as Chief Pilot in 1988. He loved to fly and was quite proud of the fact that he began in biplanes and ended in jets, accumulating over 15,000 flying hours in 25 different aircraft. Harry was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church as well as Daedelians and the Quiet Birdmen. He is preceded in death by his father & mother, his wife, Carol and his brother, John Charles. Harry leaves behind his daughter Cherie Harris and husband, Marshall of Hobart, OK; his son, Mike and wife Sam of Oklahoma City; grandson, Zac Harris and wife Amy of Hobart, granddaughter Audra Heasley and husband Matt of Oklahoma City, grandson Scott Harris and wife Meagan of Hobart, and great-grandchildren, Rylan, Kenda, Trale', Leo and Gabe also of Hobart. Private graveside services in Resurrection Cemetery are being made by Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary North. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your church or local food bank.
