Viewing and visitation will be held at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S. Western Ave, OKC, OK 73139 from 4-8 PM Saturday and 12-8 PM Sunday, at the funeral home. A service to honor and celebrate Marie's life will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 24, 2025 at the South Colonial Chapel of Vondel Smith Mortuary with burial following at Resthaven Memory Gardens
Helen Marie Ashworth, fondly known as "Marie", entered Heaven's gates on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 98. The daughter of Edna Mae (Cooper) and Cloyes B. Punneo. Marie was born on November 29, 1926 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Marie grew up attending Carnegie Schools In 1945 Marie graduated from Carnegie High School. She met a handsome young man by the name of John Webster Ashworth and the two were inseparable. Their love blossomed and the two were united in marriage, on June 11th 1946 in Sebastian Arkansas This union was blessed with their two children, John and Betty and more than 38 years of a wonderful and loving marriage together before John's passing on June 20th 1984 Throughout the years, Marie held many jobs and retired after 25 years of dedicated service as a retail operations manager for Tupperware, The Lucky 13 Group. An avid sports fan, Marie also enjoyed watching her favorite teams play regardless if it was football, basketball, or baseball season, she was glued to watching them play on T.V. Marie lived life to the fullest and with zest! She made the most of her moments, especially those spent with her kids and grandkids. They were the truest joy and center of Marie's life. The magnitude of positive inspiration and influence that Marie had on others has helped shape their lives for joy and success. Marie wasn't one to sit still very long. She loved with all of her heart and will be deeply missed each day.
She was preceded in death by her:
Parents, Edna Mae and Cloyes B Punneo.;
Beloved Husband of 38 years, John Webster Ashworth;
Brothers: Cloyes J. (Junior) Punneo, and Derral Punneo;
Grandson, Selby Egender, III.
She leaves behind her loving family:
Son ~ John Allen Ashworth and his wife, Paula;
Daughter ~ Betty L. Egender and her husband, Selby;
4 Grandchildren ~ Shea Ashworth and his wife, Lisa; Brad Ashworth and his wife, Amber; Ginger Moffat, and Shelby Egender;
19 Great Grandchildren;
14 Great-Great Grandchildren;
Brother, Larry Punneo and his wife, Mary;
Several other extended family and many dear friends.
