IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Ruth
Brewer
November 25, 1934 – February 18, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Helen R. Brewer on Wednesday, February 18th. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joe Brewer and her son, Steve Brewer. Helen is survived by her sister Alma Allard, her son Don Brewer and wife Kimberly and her daughter Karen Bagwell and husband David. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Helen was born in 1934 in Jennings, Oklahoma. She was the fifth of seven children born to Roy and Lillie Wells. Helen moved to Oklahoma City after graduating from high school. She went to work for Liberty Bank as a proof machine operator. It was there that she met her future husband, Joe Brewer, who was a customer service engineer for IBM. Joe and Helen were married in 1956. Their first child, Don, was born in 1958. Children Steve and Karen (twins) were born in 1960. After the kids went to school, Helen enrolled at Central State College and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Elementary Education. She decided that teaching was not her calling so she took business courses at Blackwood Business College. Upon completion, she went to work for Encon Associates where she worked as a combination secretary and bookkeeper. She later held the positions of Corporate Secretary, Treasurer, and President of Encon.
Helen and Joe were involved in square dancing for over 30 years in the Oklahoma City area. They were also avid travelers and campers. Over the years, they traveled from one end of the country to the other, from California to New York and everywhere in between. After Helen’s retirement, they traveled to Nova Scotia, Canada, Hawaii and cruised to Alaska with their best friends, Hal and Myrna Wing.
At the time of her passing, she lived at Homestead Assisted Living Facility in Bethany, Oklahoma. The family is grateful to the staff and nurses at the facility and to her hospice nurses for making her end days as comfortable as possible.
Mom, you will be missed by many until we see you again in the next life.
Interred at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
