Helen R. Oaks, 87, was born July 20, 1923 at Thomas, Oklahoma to Garner Paul and Jessie L. (Hazelbaker) Rymer. She died Friday, November 26, 2010 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Helen was very proud to be a charter member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. When younger, she was active in the Methodist Women's Circle. During WWII while working for Dr. Batton, an Optometrist, Helen met her husband Clarence who at the time was stationed at Will Rogers Airfield. (Clarence was a patient of Dr. Batton and the family kidded that Helen always gave Clarence the wrong prescription in his glasses so he would have to come back in to the Dr.'s office and she could see him again.) Later in life Helen worked in the Motor Freight business were she was a member of Teamsters Union Local #886 and retired as an OS&D Clerk. Helen loved sewing, cooking, and canning. When Clarence was ill she faithfully took care of him. Helen dearly loved all of her family including her children, granddaughters and great granddaughters. In her later years, Helen enjoyed traveling and was always very excited about her many trips. The family would like to thank Sterling House Assisted Living and the 3rd floor staff and Doctors at Presbyterian Hospital.
