Hoa Van Tran, born 5-22-1943 in Nam Dinh Vietnam, went to heaven 8-11-23 at the age of 80. Mr. Tran was a single child, but became the "man of the house" when his dad passed away early. He exceeded in caring for his mom, learning to cook, running the house, and performing in school.
At 20, Mr. Tran enrolled in the South Vietnamese army school, graduated with honors, and chose the city of Qui Nhon as his duty station. Shortly after, he married Nga Phuong Nguyen, 18, and had 4 magnificent children, 3 boys and 1 girl. While serving and fighting in the army alongside with the USA, he eventually made captain.
After the fall of Saigon in 1979, Mr. Tran and his brother in laws migrated on an 8 month journey to the USA, where he finally settled in OKC. Nga and the 4 children took a similar long journey a year later, finally reuniting the family once again. While in OKC, he worked for the city in the planning department, and retired 30 years later.
After retirement, Mr. Tran engaged in many more community service in the Vietnamese Catholic Church and the Vietnamese American Community as an elected chairman representing OKC. He dedicated his life serving his family, Vietnamese community, and God. He is survived by his wife Nga, sons Andrew, David, Tommy, and daughter Jennifer.
