Hubert Wayne "Friend" Doke, 92, of OKC died Oct. 21, 2015 in Ft. Worth, TX. He was born Oct. 16, 1923 in Clinton, Kansas to Clarence Eugene "Pappy" and Dorothy (Jackson) Doke. Hubert married Velva Kuhlman on July 6, 1947 at her farm home in Cogar, Oklahoma. Hubert served 27 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired from FAA as a mechanic. Hubert was a faithful church member at Oakcrest Church of Christ for many years and he never wanted to miss a church service. Spending time with his family was very important to Hubert and was at the top of his priority list. Hubert had many hobbies including woodworking, farming and genealogy. In his later years Hubert enjoyed playing pool and being on his iPad. Hubert was known to many friends and family by the name of "Friend", his grandchildren called him "Grand Friend". Velva once said that she married Hubert because she believed he was a happy man and she wanted a happy life. He was preceded in death by: • His parents • His sister Irene Petitt • His loving wife of 63 years Velva Survivors include: • His children, Larry and Jan Doke, Dennis and Betty Doke, and Cynthia and John Taylor • Six grandchildren, Emily Gillmore and Jeremy, Benjamin Doke and Erika, Ben Doke and Leslie, John Taylor, Timothy Doke and Jonathan Doke and Kecia • Eight great grandchildren, Allison Gillmore, Joshua Doke, Bryson Gillmore, Callie Doke, Hunter Doke, Joel Doke, Eli Doke and Meriel Doke. • And other relatives and several nieces, nephews and their spouses including Ronnie Kuhlman, Sue Sixkiller, Sam Kuhlman, Steve Kuhlman, Terry Petitt, Shannon Petitt, Gene Petitt and Danny Petitt.
