Irene Betty Jean (Peek) George was born on June 17, 1932 in Oklahoma City the daughter of James Grover and Mable Zelia (Sullins) Peek. She completed this life on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the age of 92.

Irene married John Stanley George on December 5, 1954 in California. They were married 48 years when he preceded her in death on February 15, 2003.

Irene adopted her 3 children, a son and twin daughters in the 1960's. After staying home to raise them for many years she picked up her career and joined her husband as a successful life insurance agent.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her 5 siblings.

She is survived by her son, Kevin George and his wife Alecia; her daughters, Kari Byrom and her husband Chris, and Traci Lavender: her seven grandchildren, John Warren George, Mary Grace George, Courtney Lavender, Trey Lavender, Kolbi Claborn and her husband, Ryley, Scott Byrom and his wife Julie and Jenna Byrom; and her four great grandchildren, Adelaide, Kyler, Sutton, and Ramsey.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on February 1st at the Vondel L Smith and Son Mortuary North, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd.
