Jack Lee Hardy was born May 31, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Flora McFarland and Faie S. Hardy. He completed this life on Friday, May 20, 2022 in Oklahoma City at the age of 91.
Jack graduated from Arsenal Technical High School of Indianapolis in 1948. Jack served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict being discharged in 1952. During the Vietnam War Jack worked for the U.S. State Department where he spent time on the ground in Vietnam.
Jack enjoyed a long and successful career with the Federal Aviation Administration as a manager of air traffic control retiring after more than 30 years. He lived in number of different cities including Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Houston, St. Louis and El Paso. After his retirement from the FAA he worked for the government in Washington, DC.
Jack and Carolyn returned to Oklahoma City where they enjoyed the Cobblestone Neighborhood Association and being members at Church of the Servant.
Jack married Virginia Carolyn Clay on June 1, 1974.
Jack was preceded in death by his father Faie Hardy; his mother and step-father, Flora and Russell Peters; and his sister, Karol Hardy.
Jack was the beloved patriarch of a large family and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn; his son, Bryan Hardy and his wife Pam of Baton Rouge, LA; his daughters, Kim Walker and her husband Mark of Oklahoma City, Kathy June Homer and her husband Barry of Gold River, CA and Rhonda Platt of Oklahoma City; his 9 grandchildren and his 16 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd.. Inurnment will be in the Church of the Servant Columbarium.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to Church of the Servant Memorial Fund, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73142.
