IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Harlan
Canaday
October 24, 1934 – January 8, 2023
James "Jim" H. Canaday, 88, Oklahoma City passed away Sunday, January 8th, 2023 at Baptist Medical Center. Jim was born October 24, 1934 in Springfield, Illinois.
While living in Panama City, Florida, Jim enlisted in the Army in 1957. He was later stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas and was honorably discharged in 1959. During his time in Kansas he met the love of his life, Sandra Cook. They married in Topeka, Kansas June 1, 1959 and were blessed with three children, Russell, Christina & Brian.
Jim moved his family to Oklahoma City in 1964 where he began working for Randy's Foods. He then became owner of K&G Food Company in 1968 and his family still operates the company to this day. He was the definition of a salesman and was always ready to get down to business and make a sale. He worked statewide distributing food and made countless friendships and happy customers over the years with his company.
Jim and his family were longtime members at the Pentecostal Church of God in Oklahoma City. Jim made some great memories with his church family and over the years his faith grew and he eventually became very close with the Lord. In 1987 Jim purchased a church at 2711 S. Blackwelder and converted it into Amethyst Recording Studio, where many well-known gospel artists recorded. Jim also immensely enjoyed golfing with his buddies; and he had a love for sports and helping others learn. For many years he coached little league Baseball, Football and Basketball teams. Above all, Jim loved his family. He made some great memories with them out at Lake Tenkiller fishing, water skiing and just spending quality time together.
Although Jim is no longer on this earth, his family will keep his memory alive. He will be deeply missed.
