A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. OKC, OK. Public viewing will be held from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, January 3, 2016 and Monday 12:00 to 1:30 PM, at the funeral home.
James Thomas (JT) Hensley was born March 11, 1950 in
Edmond, Oklahoma to his parents Marvel Mayfield and Leonard Hensley, and passed December 25, 2015.
He graduated from Edmond High School 1968. During that time, he was a band member of "Burton Court" and he played lead guitar and back-up vocals.
JT attended and then graduated from Oklahoma University in 1972. He worked for Channel 34 as an electronic engineer and developed several software programs for Oklahoma University Medical Center, was the owner of Industrial Video, Inc., and invented several electronic devices including the "instant picture" which replaced proofs for Glamour Shots and the "speed module" for school bus monitoring. JT was the former president of the Oklahoma City Section of our IEEE. (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.)
JT was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998.
JT is survived by his wife Betty Hensley of Oklahoma City; his son Sean Hensley of Oklahoma City; Grandson, James Ryan Hensley; Nieces Elizabeth, Barbara, Nina and Laura; Nephew, Robert; and his sister Shirley Mefford and husband Tom, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mr. Hensley was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in the Oklahoma City.
The family of Mr. Hensley wishes to thank the staff of Northwest Nursing Center for their care during his fight with multiple sclerosis.
Public viewing will be held from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, January 3, 2016 and Monday 12:00 to 1:30 PM, at the funeral home. A funeral service to remember JT will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, OKC.
