Obituary

James "Jimmy" Richardson Murray, was born Nov. 21, 1941 in Lawton, OK and died Feb. 7, 2010 in OKC. He was cerebral palsied for his entire life, yet never allowed that to keep him from being kind, thoughtful, generous and faithful to Jesus. His musical talents ran toward Lawrence Welk, Dino, hymns, gospel songs and Silent Night, but nothing compared to a good cowboy movie, especially if John Wayne was in it. He graduated from William Jennings Bryan School and attended Southeast High School. He worked at the Cerebral Palsy and Handicapped Workshop for over 36 years prior to his retirement in 2002. Jimmy was a member of the Draper Park Christian Church for most of his life and was named and Honorary Deacon. He is survived by his sister, Tamsen Murray of Anaheim, CA; sister-in-law, Anne Davis Murray of OKC; three nephews, Jason (Karen) Murray and Nathan (Mandi) Murray, all of OKC, and Caleb Murray of Buenos Aires, Argentina; three grand nephews, Chase, Iain and Niall, all of OKC; three grand nieces, Brooklyn, Onora and Mairi, all of OKC;
his aunt and uncle, Rita and Truman Moore of Amarillo, TX; as well as numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Angus and Mabel Murray, and Lloyd and Roenia Richardson; parents, Jim and Mildred Murray; brother, Dennis Murray and infant nephew, Jarrod Neil Murray. The family is especially grateful to Marilyn and other staff members from Alleve Hospice, as well as the staff of Meadowlake Estates for their kind attention to Jimmy for the past several months. The family asks that any memorial gifts be given either to Draper Park Christian Church, Alleve Hospice or the Cerebral Palsy and Handicapped Workshop.
