Jamie D. Gentry, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and soon-to-be-great grandmother, died Friday, November 20, 2015. She was 84-years-old. Jamie was born October 2nd, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to her parents, James and Florence (Blevins) Bunker. She was the granddaughter of 89ers Bill and Millie Blevins, and was always proud of her Oklahoma roots. A lifetime resident of Oklahoma City, Jamie graduated from Capitol Hill School in 1948. A few years later, she would meet Austin Allen Gentry in the town square in Madill, Oklahoma and they were married for almost 66 years. Jamie and Austin had four children – Allen, Kim, Joni and Leslie. After "retiring" as a homemaker, Jamie attended Rose State and became one of the first graduates of the school's Dental Hygiene program. She then began a career as a dental hygienist, where she brought clean, bright, wonderful smiles to the faces of many OKC residents until her retirement in the mid 1990s. Jamie loved to travel, paint, read, cook, work in her garden, brag about her grandkids, and cuddle with her sweet dog Bella. Jamie will always be remembered for her sharp wit, making strangers feel like friends, and yelling the answers to Trivial Pursuit questions when it wasn't her turn. She was loved and she will be forever missed.
