IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice Larue
Jay
August 6, 1940 – October 21, 2024
Several hours before sunrise on October 21, Janice LaRue Jay exchanged her well-worn earth suit for a perfect, heavenly body.
Jan was born to George and Vivian Jones in a farm house near Mountain View, Oklahoma on August 6,1940. She spent her early years in the Panhandle of Oklahoma but moved to Oklahoma City in the mid 1960's.
Jan became well-known and well loved in the local radio community as she served as the Traffic Manager at KOMA for almost 30 years.
Apostle Paul talks about finishing the race well, and Jan certainly did that. She experienced a spiritual rebirth in her seventies and was baptized at the Brookwood Baptist Church at age 82. Every Sunday and Wednesday morning Jan could be found at the church with her brother John. She faithfully served as the Prayer Chain leader for the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Grandma Jan loved her family!
She had 11grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent at family gatherings and was adored by all.
Jan was preceded in death by sister Velinda Mitchell, mother Vivian Frederick and Jerry Jay, her husband and the love of her life.
She is survived by brothers, John Gaberdiel and Philip Gaberdiel; daughter Sherri Muzny and husband David,
Sons Rick Pugh and wife Christy and Lyndell Pugh and wife Mary;
Son-in-law Melvin Jay and wife Mitzi and daughter-in-law Debbie Mauldin and husband Randy.
Jan will be missed but we know we will see her again, and everyone who knew and loved Jan knows that heaven is a much livelier place now.
