Announcing a celebration of a beautiful life!

On August 3, 2023, Janice G. Reynolds was freed from the confines of a body that just couldn't contain the amount of love she had for her friends, her family, and this beautiful world any longer.

Janice was born on July 25, 1946 to Josephine and Chancy Griffith of Topeka, Kansas. Janice lived and loved a simple life and was so proud to be a "Kansas girl" even though she lived most of her life in Oklahoma City. Janice was known by thousands of elementary school children over the course of her career as Mrs. Reynolds, and she took so much pride in every grade she taught, with First Grade being her favorite. She felt that if she could teach children in First Grade to read, they could learn anything else.

Janice is a proud child of God, and grew up in the Methodist church where she developed her love of music and song. She was an accomplished piano teacher and those who knew her were welcomed by her outgoing message on her answering machine with a cheerful message accompanied by her piano playing in the background!

Janice loved deeply and widely... She wrote letters to friends for as many years as she could, single-handedly keeping the USPS in business, one stamp at a time. Her beautiful handwriting was recognizable from across the room as only a lifelong school teacher's could be.

Janice loved nature and all of its splendor, and she especially loved birds and sunflowers. There should be a species of bird...the most beautiful one...named after her. She loved to tell her children about a particularly happy Meadowlark who serenaded her and the love of her life, David Reynolds, on their honeymoon. Her collection of coffee mugs reflects her love of the warmth of a fresh pot of coffee, and ideally served with a dish of plain M&M's. She could find the beauty and humor in just about anything.

Janice will be laid to rest in the state she loved most, next to her Mother and Father and sister Joan. She is survived by her children, Jenny Reynolds and Matthew Reynolds, daughter in law Melissa Stevens, along with her granddaughters Aleesha and Brooke, and her grandsons Jacob and Brady, and two sisters, Helen and Rosetta.

Janice was everything that is wonderful about being alive. Her spirit was, and continues to be, kind and loving, thoughtful and caring, generous and giving, optimistic and hopeful.

There aren't enough pages in the newspaper to envelop who she is, the love she gave, or the legacy she leaves behind. She will live forever in the hearts and minds of those who were blessed enough to know her and her unmatched creativity in making those she loved feel her love.

Janice had a license plate that succinctly conveyed her motto for life. NJOY2DA. Enjoy today... That's exactly what she did, and what she would love for her friends and family to do in remembrance of her beautiful life. Enjoy today Janice, you are remembered and you are loved, forever.
