Obituary

Jasper Nettle left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father and reunited with his wife and other family members on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the age of 99. Jasper was born on April 11, 1923, to Fred and Ellen Nettle in Stewards Mill, Texas. When Jasper was seven years old, his father was killed in a tragic accident; but his mother never remarried, and raised Jasper and his two siblings, brother Charles and sister Bette, as a single parent. Also, at the age of seven, Jasper became ill with polio which left him with a disability. Jasper graduated from Kilgore High School in Kilgore, Texas. Shortly after graduation, he began working at a café in Dallas, Texas, which he and his brother Charles would later purchase. Although Jasper was disabled, his disability never kept him from doing the activities he loved, fishing and hunting. On a hunting excursion with family members in 1983, Jasper killed a brown bear in British Columbia.

On January 3, 1948, Jasper married his childhood neighbor and high school sweetheart, Alma Lynn Grounds. Together, their union was blessed with three children: Fred, Jenny, and Steve. The two were inseparable, and they enjoyed more than 74 years of marriage until Alma Lynn's passing in 2019. Jasper loved his children with all his heart and soul, and he worked hard to provide the very best for them. Recently, Jasper was asked, "What was his greatest accomplishment in life", to which he replied, "My three wonderful children." Jasper was surrounded by his loving children when he peacefully entered heaven.

Jasper was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Randy Rush; his wife of 74 years, Alma Lynn Nettle; brother, Charles Nettle, and sister, Bette Kirgan.

Jasper is survived by his sons: Fred Nettle of Oklahoma City; Steve Nettle and his wife Thao Lieu of Celina, Texas; his daughter, Jenney Christian and her husband Chris of Oklahoma City; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as a host of other loving family and friends.

This world has lost a sweet and loving soul. His memory will be cherished by all those lives he touched.
