Jaya Panday Shukla was born in Kakinada, India to P.S.N. Prasad and Ramratan Bai. She completed her journey in her home in Oklahoma City at the age of 79. Jaya lived in the United States from 1954 to 1960, then returned to India to complete her B.A. and study music. She was fortunate to later befriend and study with Pandit Jasraj. Jaya married her late husband, Krishna Kumar Shukla, in 1967 and after starting a family, they returned to the United States permanently in 1971.
She is survived by her three children Kanchana Saha of Corona, CA, Rashi Shukla of OKC, OK, and Neel Shukla of Jupiter, FL; her four grandchildren, Emma Anjali, Dev Ranjan, Sage Prasad and Xavier Neel; her son-in-law Tulsi Ranjan Saha; her siblings Usha, Uma, Venu, Jyoti, Kalpana, Vibha, Shreekant, and all her nephews and nieces around the world.
Jaya loved singing, cooking, painting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. The memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 3, 2021 in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd.
