Jennie Charlene Freeman Eddy passed away July 24, 2010 at the age of 55. Jennie was born on January 6, 1955 in Wilson, Oklahoma to Henry and Naomi Freeman. She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1973 and then attended East Central University in Ada where she met and married the love of her life, Steve Eddy, in 1974. She graduated from East Central in 1977 with a degree in Education and then attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a Masters Degree in Reading Education in 1979. Jennie was a life-long reading teacher and advocate for children's literacy and spent her professional career as a Reading Specialist with the Moore Public Schools. She was a National Board Certified Teacher, active in the International and Oklahoma Reading Associations. She was President of the ORA in 2005-2006. Jennie and Steve have two children, Matt, born in 1981 and Elizabeth, born in 1983. Jennie loved to travel and had the opportunity to take many wonderful vacations, both stateside and abroad. Jennie was a devout Christian and member of Emmaus Baptist Church in OKC. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who took great pride in her children and family. She was full of life, fun-loving and known for her witty sense of humor and bright smile. Jennie was also a talented artist, painting many florals and landscapes. In recent years she painted a series of historical buildings in Moore, some of which are on display at Moore City Hall, the Moore Chamber of Commerce and the Moore Public Library. It was her desire to help preserve the history of Moore through her art. Jennie will be dearly missed and forever remembered by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by:
• Her parents, Henry and Naomi Freeman;
• Step-father Jess McGinness;
• And brother, Harry Freeman.
She is survived by:
• Her husband of 36 years, Steve of Moore;
• Son, Matt of Oklahoma City;
• Daughter, Elizabeth of Moore;
• And brothers, Bill Freeman and wife Sue of Harrah, Neal Freeman and wife Vi of Ardmore, and Jon Freeman of Wetumka.
