Jerald Adron
Pitts
August 19, 1933 – January 1, 2023
On its first day, 2023 found the pearly gates opening up to receive Jerald "Jerry" Pitts, 89, of Oklahoma City. On Sunday, January 1st, 2023, Jerry was escorted to his final destination by a legion of angels to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ face to face. While the family is saddened by our loss, we rejoice in his gain.
Jerry was born to Leeroy and Lennie May Pitts in his family's house boat near Brinkley, Arkansas on August 19, 1933. Jerry's family moved around often due to his father's work, experiencing a number of states as a young man. In his teens they settled in Forrest City, Arkansas. Jerry enjoyed attending church, and before graduating Forrest City High in 1951, he had already felt the call to preach.
After graduating, Jerry moved to Marshall, Texas in 1953, where he attended East Texas Baptist University, and received a Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry. Later, moving to Hurst, TX, Jerry began working for Burrus & Matthews selling electrical supplies. He continued to work for Burrus & Matthews for many years before moving to Oklahoma City in 1969 to help expand the business. Over the years, Jerry continued to serve the Lord in the church in various capacities such as pastor, elder, Sunday school teacher and loyal member. He also enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend. He lived a Christ-like life and led by example. Although he is no longer on this earth, his memory will remain with his family, friends and through the lives he touched.
