Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday August 22, 2011 at Southern Hills Baptist Church 8601 S. Penn with interment following at Heritage Burial Park 4000 S. W. 119th Street. Surrounded by his family, Jerry William Tullis went to his eternal home on August 18, 2011 at the age of 76. Born on July 21, 1935 in Wagoner, Oklahoma to Bill and Leo Tullis, he lived his youth in Westville, Oklahoma where he excelled in a wide range of sports during high school. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. This is where he also met Panella Spalding, the love of his life and to whom he would share 55 years of marriage. Jerry served a brief stint in the U.S. Army, but after contracting the debilitating guillian barre, was ultimately given a medical discharge. His business career encompassed a variety of positions in the financial business world, but he found his passion when he became an auctioneer. He most loved charity auctions where he could have fun with an audience and help a worthy cause at the same time. Jerry became a Christian at a very young age and was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. He was adamant about the responsibility churches have for local missions. His primary source of pride was the Firstep Programs at Oklahoma City Metro Alliance. He initiated Bible studies at both Men's and Women's facilities and became "Uncle Jerry" to clients, many of whom made professions of faith because of his witness. In many cases, Jerry served as a mentor and took pride in the sobriety and personal growth they were able to achieve. He was grateful to the Lord for blessing him with the opportunity of this ministry.
