The world lost but heaven gained a beloved Mom, Nanny, Sister, and Friend when Jessie Lavelle Hertz completed this life in her home on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the age of 82.

She was born July 5, 1941, in Donna, Texas to Rev. Doyal and Lavelle (Watson) Brumley. From an early age she was a gifted musician and played the accordion in church in her younger years, then faithfully served as her church organist well into her 70s. Jessie was devoted to her parents and their ministry, and she enjoyed playing the organ in many of the churches her parents pastored throughout her life. She also enjoyed telling stories about pranks she and her siblings and friends would pull on visiting evangelists. One day, a young man named Jesse Hertz attended her church, and after several months he got up enough nerve to ask her if she wanted to go "take pictures." He became the love of her life, and they were married on January 4, 1964. Together they shared 52 years.

Jessie was a true partner to her husband as they raised two children and ran their company Hertz Pools in Oklahoma City during summer seasons, and managed a cattle ranch in Antlers, OK in the winters. She was a talented cake decorator and seamstress. She made countless birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends, and fashioned everything from pillows to her daughter's prom dress. She also loved to learn new things, including taking electronics courses and college level horticulture classes as an adult. Those who knew her well saw both her sweet and mischievous sides. Jessie was devoted to her family and her church, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone who needed it.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse C. Hertz on June 16, 2016; her brothers, Gilbert Brumley and Robert Brumley.

Jessie is survived by her son, Jesse Hertz, Jr. and his wife Andrea; her daughter, Jeanne Neugebauer and her husband Mike; her brothers, Bob Brumley and his wife, Jerry and Alvin Brumley and his wife Jenny; her sister, Marilyn Ingmire and her husband Terry; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gilbert Brumley and Mrs. Robert Brumley; her dear friend Shelia Owens and her husband Jimmy McClain; her grandchildren, Derrick Wertz, Lindsey Jackson and her husband Chris, Jesse Hertz, III, Beth Lamb her husband Cody, Heather Hertz, Shanista Hertz, Kyle Hertz, Levi Hertz, MollyAnna Hertz, Erin Hertz and Josiah Hertz; her eight great grandchildren; and her two fur-baby Chihuahuas Cutie and Tinker.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 27, 2023 in the Britton Baptist Church, 1141 W. Britton Road. Committal prayers and interment will be at 3:30 PM in the Rattan Cemetery in Rattan, Oklahoma
