(NORTH) - Jim Glendon Duckett peacefully passed away to be with our Lord and Savior on July 18th, 2010. Jim was born in a humble setting on September 16, 1927 in a tent in Seminole, Oklahoma. He is survived by older brother, Thomas Ross Duckett of Mustang, loving wife Helen Lee, daughters Lisa Duckett, Laurie Simmons, Loretta Berghoff and son, James Duckett; grandchildren Taylor, Samantha, and Halle Berghoff, Dylan and Jake Simmons. Jim spent grade school years in Southeast Oklahoma City at Wheeler Elementary, then relocated to Konawa and graduated from High School in 1945 where he met his future wife, Helen Douthit. In August, 1946 Jim enlisted in the Army, serving in Japan with the 5th Airforce Battalion until January 19th, 1948 when he was Honorably Discharged. He attended the University of Oklahoma on the GI Bill. After three years, he was accepted into OU's Medical School. He graduated in 1955, after having married Helen Douthit. Jim was a trailblazer, and was the first resident accepted into the Plastic Surgery residency at OU. He began his Plastic Surgery career in 1960. His illustrious career spanned 40 years in which he pioneered the first outpatient Cosmetic Surgery Center in Oklahoma City, developed his own line of skin care products, weight loss clinics and was instrumental in the development of the Baptist/Integris Burn Center. Jim loved medicine and had a true passion for helping others. He touched the lives of many people through his strong belief in education, financing numerous individuals to pursue careers in the health sciences field. Even in retirement, Jim continued to be a friend to many, encouraging others in their educational pursuits, and inspiring people to strive to be more. A viewing will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 21, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner Rd. OKC, with burial to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
