IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmie Marion
Mccallum
October 25, 1929 – June 19, 2024
Jimmie Marion McCallum, mother, Grammy, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, at the age of 94 surrounded by family as she was welcomed Home by her Savior.
Born in Handley, TX, on October 25, 1929, to Ora and Uel Clanton and the older sister to Uel "Bud," she loved spending time on the farm with her daddy and riding her horse, Penny. Her red hair and striking features led to several of her first jobs in retail and as a model.
She attended Texas Wesleyan University, and while studying met the love of her life who tugged on one of her curls, J Bryan McCallum. Married on September 14, 1950, they started a life and family together in Wichita Falls, TX, before moving to Oklahoma City, OK, in the '60s. Their daughters, Nedra and Jan, were the apples of their eye! Jimmie said her greatest accomplishment in life was the close friendship between Jan and Nedra.
Jimmie worked at Southwestern Bank for years in customer service and managing tellers, but her favorite role was being a wife to Honey, mom to Nedra and Jan, mother-in-law to Jeff and Chris, and Grammy to Emily, Audree, Mallory, and Bryan in addition to six great-grandchildren. She prayed over each family member daily, often on her front porch. Family meals filled with stories and laughter were one of her favorite things--Sunday supper, black-eyed peas each New Year's Day, and Wednesday family lunches, where she inherited a bonus grandson, Cameron Dunn.
In addition to family, her passions included church and Sunday school (she called each class member every Saturday), gardening (winning many yard-of-the-month awards!), staying active (walking 1-3 miles every day until she was 93 and taking Tai Chi weekly with friends from church), and being an American patriot (she was the last wife of a Pearl Harbor Survivor in Oklahoma).
Jimmie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, and by her husband J Bryan "Honey" McCallum.
She is survived by daughters Nedra (Jeff) Schulhoff and Jan (Chris) Condren; grandchildren Emily Schulhoff, Audree (Rami) Tadros, Mallory (Alex) Speers, and Bryan (Morgan) Schulhoff; and great-grandchildren J Schulhoff, Hank Schulhoff, Scarlett Tadros, Mason Tadros, Hudson Tadros, and Callum Speers; and nieces: Marilu (Craig) Farnham, Melissa Farr, and Donna Clanton; nephew, Scott (Grace) Clanton; and 2 cousins and a spouse.
