Jimmie Rex "Red" Hatfied, 85, of Oklahoma City, OK passed away on July 25, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born on August 28, 1935 to Oliver and Mary Hatfield in Comanche, Oklahoma. Jimmie held several jobs over the years, from reading water meters to driving a taxi. He especially enjoyed chauffeuring passengers in his taxi to and from the airport because he always came back with a story to tell. He eventually retired from driving an asphalt truck on construction sites.
Jimmie loved to share stories and memories over and over of his family and friends. He had a way of keeping everyone entertained with his storytelling, jokes and "I want my hairy toe" theatrics. Jimmie also played harmonica and the fiddle and had his song, "Watermelon on the Vine" published. He loved old-time bluegrass, country and western music. Jimmie also enjoyed hunting and went fishing on occasion.
Jimmie was a family man who worked hard for and loved his family with all of his heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Hatfield; mother, Mary McDaniels; son, Monty Hatfield; brothers, William Hatfield, Jerry B. Hatfield; sister, Ramona Lay; and great granddaughter, Charity Hendrickson.
