Obituary

Jimmy (Jim) Sutton was born November 8, 1932 in Ketchum, OK the son of Charles and Violet Sutton. On June 21, 2021, Jim went to be with the Lord at the age of 88. As a youth, Jim loved to swim, hunt and fish at Grand Lake with his brother Ramon. While in school Jim played football and wrestled. Jim graduated from Stillwater High School and Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi serving as House Manager for the Fraternity. He was a member of the Naval Reserves and during his college years was called up for Active Duty Service, where he proudly served his country. He enjoyed participating in Rotary International and Toastmasters of Oklahoma City. Jim was the founder of Construction Building Specialties, Inc. Jim was inducted into the Department of Construction Engineering Hall of Fame at OSU in 2006. He was also a member of numerous organizations including the Quiet Birdmen, the Oklahoma City Boat Club, Ski Island Lake Club, Mayfair Dance Club and American Legion, Post 12. Jim was a charter member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed sailing with his family and restoring old cars. He also earned his private pilot's license and loved to fly. After retirement Jim was an avid traveler. He enjoyed visiting family in Hawaii, fishing trips with longtime friends, and he looked forward to annual trips to Branson with his Men's Bible Club and their wives. Jim never met a stranger, who didn't become his friend and never shying away from hard work, Jim volunteered his time (and shared his expertise) with multiple people and organizations throughout his life. Most recently he served as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital for many years. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Elizabeth Ann; his brothers, Charles (Ty) and Ramon Sutton; his brother-in-law Gene Veith; and granddaughter, Corinthia Michelle France. He is survived by his wife Sherry Sutton; his sister Joyce Veith; his sisters-in-law, Jean Sutton and Pat Sutton; his daughter, Janet and husband, Michael France; his sons Charles Sutton and wife, Shauna; and Michael (Andy) Sutton and wife, Susan; his step-son, Jay Potter; and step-daughters Jodie Potter and Jennifer Doyon; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and beloved canine companion Daisy. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 7th in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner Road
