IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan
Harding
July 9, 1930 – September 12, 2024
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in memory of Joan.
Joan Harding, 94, of Norman, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at home. She was born on July 9, 1930, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to Ralph Sr. and Opal (Sturm) Posey.
Joan was raised in the Clarksburg area with her brothers, Ralph Jr. and Dale, and her sister, Honey Lou "Harriett." As a young girl, she helped around the home and with her siblings, learning early on the importance of family, which became the cornerstone of her life.
Later in life, Joan worked as a waitress in Chicago and then at her brother's casino in Lake Tahoe. During her time in both cities, she had the opportunity to meet many high-profile celebrities, actors, and musicians and loved sharing those stories.
Joan was blessed with two daughters, Darlene and Cathy, whom she adored. As a loving mother, she always put her family first, ensuring they were well cared for with love and support.
Joan began working for 7-11 and quickly advanced to the position of store manager. She loved building lasting friendships with customers and co-workers. Joan became a dedicated supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and her efforts earned her numerous awards over the years. She worked for 7-11 for over 20 years and cherished the memories she made before her retirement.
Joan's greatest joy was spending time with her family, whether playing games with loved ones, taking family vacations, or cheering on her grandchildren in their sports and activities. She always found peace in watching and feeding her birds daily. For a bit of fun, she loved her trips to the casino and playing the slot machines. As the matriarch of her family, Joan was a source of love, strength, and wisdom, offering humor, generosity, and support to all who knew her. A faithful believer in Jesus Christ, Joan attended Shartel Church of God and was inspired by Pastor Steve's devotions and sermons.
Joan will always be remembered for her fierce independence, sharp wit, and unwavering love for her family. She did things her way, with a spirit of determination and the best kind of stubbornness that we all admired. Never shy about sharing her opinions, Joan was always ready to speak her mind, which endeared her even more to those around her. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
