IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joann
Sandersfield
August 22, 1939 – December 4, 2022
JoAnn Sandersfield, 83 , of Moore, passed away Sunday, December 4th, 2022 in Oklahoma City. JoAnn
was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John and Dorothy Gatz. JoAnn was raised in Union City
alongside her 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She and her family were devout members at St. Joseph Catholic
Church and were very active members throughout her childhood. She grew up helping on the family
farm where they raised cows, pigs and chickens. They also grew, cotton, wheat and many other types of
produce. One of her numerous duties was picking cotton, which she became very skilled at. She even
picked cotton into adulthood with her children by her side.
JoAnn graduated from Union City high School in 1957 and shortly after moved to Oklahoma City. She
began working as a waitress in town & later started working for a local newspaper. While working for
the paper, she met Martin Sandersfield who would become the love of her life. They were married at St.
Joseph Catholic Church in Union City on July 2, 1960. The two went back and forth between Union City
and OKC for work and family reasons, but eventually settled down and made a home in Del City, where
they were blessed with 4 children Cathy, Kenny, Christy and Rick. In 1978 they moved to their
permanent home In Moore. Being a wife and mother brought JoAnn great joy and she loved her
husband and children with all her heart. She was involved with the kid's activities as they were growing
up and made sure they had everything they needed. JoAnn, Martin & the children took countless family
trips together and made unforgettable memories on their many vacations and quick getaways. As the
kids got older, JoAnn and Martin continued to travel & created experiences together as a couple that
nothing could compare to. Two of their favorite spots to stay were Carlsbad, where they often stayed at
a particular condo, or their cabin at Lake Texoma.
Martin and JoAnn worked hard to support their family over the years with all their endeavors. In 1973,
Martin opened his own printing company, Quintella Printing, where JoAnn worked as a co-owner and
bookkeeper until retiring in 2006. Then in 2020 Martin passed.
Since 1985 JoAnn had been a longtime member at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Moore until her health
declined and she became unable to attend. When JoAnn was able, she enjoyed gardening, making crafts
and used to crochet & sew. At Christmas time she would craft handmade gift bags filled with candy for
her grandchildren. She also made a blanket for each of her children, and those are very dear to them.
Jo Ann's ultimate hobby was taking care of her family. Whether it was keeping up with Martin, raising
her children or spoiling her grandchildren, family really was the center of her world. After Martin
passed, her close connection with Christ and her family helped her through those dark times.
JoAnn is now in the presence of her Lord. Although she is no longer here on this earth, Jo Ann's caring
spirit will always be remembered by her family and friends.
