IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joanne "Jody"
Woodard - Wade
April 11, 1945 – May 21, 2024
Jody Woodard-Wade passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the age of 79. Jody was born on April 11, 1945 in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania. She was adopted, raised in a small town and didn't have an easy childhood, though she never used that as a crutch. At age 14, she left home, strong willed and determined to find her own way. At age 20, she started her own family, raising her two children, Tony and Tammy, in Oklahoma. For most of their lives, Jody raised her children on her own, working two jobs to provide for her family. Nothing meant as much to her as seeing her children taken care of and happy. At age 48, Jody met Rick and they married in 2003. They enjoyed living in new places and traveling together. But she always made time to see her kids and grandchildren. Jody settled down again in Oklahoma to be closer to her son and grandchildren. Helping her family was always first priority and gave her the most joy in life. After Jody retired, she continued to work part time jobs. She was never one to be still. She always needed to be doing something. Always needing a purpose and always wanting to help others, whether that be taking care of her grandchildren or volunteering at church. Her daughter would often joke with her that she needed to stop doing the laundry 24/7 when she came to visit because she didn't have room in her closet when ALL her clothes were clean. Up until her passing, Jody participated strongly in her church, the OKC Family Church. Her and Rick were active in various ministries and especially enjoyed being a part of the Bible Study Group. The church counted on her to bring donuts each week, so much so that if her and Rick had a conflict that day and couldn't make it to church, they would still do their best to deliver the donuts. Jody has always been known for her kindness although she was also a bit of a spit fire. She was a woman with strong convictions and didn't hold back. She stood up for herself and others, and was never afraid to speak her mind or stand her ground. Jody was loved and cherished by many, and will always be remembered for her kind heart, her passionate soul, and the love that she put out into the world without expecting or wanting anything in return.
