Joe Ben Walker, Jr. passed away on 23 September 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 5, 1931.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Ruth Walker and his mother Emma Lou Walker.
He is survived by his two children Susan Walker White and Steven Kent Walker. He is further survived by two grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Powell and Benjamin David Holeman, one great grandson, Joseph Kade Holeman, and two great granddaughters, Paula Gracelyn Powell and Vaida Channing Powell.
While attending Central High School, he worked part-time for C. Ray for Signs and Alexander Drug Co. He met Patsy while working at Alexander Drug Co. and they married on March 7, 1952. They shared 57 years of marriage until her death on January 1, 2010.
He was proud to be one of C. Ray's boys in the Straight Shooters class at First Nazarene Church. This was his first introduction to the abiding love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. He and Patsy began attending Westridge Hills Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) in Oklahoma City in 1960. He remained active in the Church of God throughout his life.
He was employed at Sohio Petroleum Co. before joining UARCO as a salesman in 1956. After 24 years at UARCO, he took up a role with Bowater Computer Forms, transferring to Dallas in 1981 and to St. Louis in 1985. He held several positions with Bowater, the last being Vice-President and Director of Sales, Central Division. He retired from Bowater in 1996.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, September 27th from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home (13125 N. MacArthur Blvd). Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Crossings Community Church, 14000 North Portland, Oklahoma City.
