John David Abston left this earth on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana. John was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Billy Ted and Suzi Abston (Clowers) on February 4, 1975. The family moved to Oklahoma City and John attended Edmond Memorial High School, when it was the only high school in Edmond. He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, where he pledged Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
John was always a good athlete. He played soccer from an early age and later played semi-pro soccer in Los Angeles. John was a hard worker, always having a job, from working at an athletic shoe store to bar tending, or management of a restaurant in Oklahoma City. In 2015, John and Jackie moved to New Orleans where they owned and operated the NOLA Tee Shirt of the Month Club, with two retail stores, one being in the French Quarter.
John was a devoted brother to sister Maggie, they were inseparable. No one will ever know what a kind, caring, loving person he was. John was always true to his convictions and never wavered in his love of the Lord.
John is survived by his wife Jackie Rice; his mother Suzi Colley Clowers and her husband Dennis; his father Billy Ted Abston; sister Maggie Abston; brother Brian Clowers (Leslie); aunt Karen Colley Hoffman (Ray), uncle Jeff Colley (Mary), aunt Judi Colley, uncle Tom Colley (Patti) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne and Maggie Colley, Theo S. and Daisy Abston and uncle Steve Colley.
Services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Vondel Smith Mortuary's North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73142. For those unable to attend the service will be Livestreamed at John Abston WEBCAST
