John Darrel Arnold was born May 6, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John. W. and Ruby M. Arnold and passed away on February 16, 2011 at the age of 72. He attended Southern Hill Baptist Church. John advanced his education at Tulsa University and University of Central Oklahoma where he also played football. He graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. His football career ended after he suffered two serious knee injuries. John coached and taught school, spending most of his time at Putnam City Central Junior High. One of John's greatest joys was teaching children and helping coach and fill their minds with knowledge. He was also a very active member of the Southeast Alumni Association. John was an avid sports fan and loved to play golf and watch OU and OSU football and basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Lee Roy, Raymond and Bill Arnold. John is survived by two daughters, whom he loved very much, Sheri Golden of Richardson, Texas and Laurie Beck and husband Terry of Corpus Christi, Texas, four grandchildren; Austin, Kimberly, Daniel and Michelle Beck all of Corpus Christi, TX, one sister Wilma Turner and husband Wayne of Norman, numerous loving nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law Beverly Arnold and Darlene Groves. John's smile and gentle nature will be missed by his family and many football and golf buddies.
