John was born October 25, 1930 in the small town of Hartshorne, Oklahoma to Edward and Clara Brady. The first 12 years of his life were spent there with his two sisters, Mary Ed and Peggy, along with his aunts, uncles, grandparents and great grandparents. John passed into Heaven, Monday, August 19, 2019 and reunited with his parents and his wife, Lametha. He leaves behind, his daughter, Laura Brooks and her husband, David Brooks, granddaughter, Nicole Brooks and several nieces and nephews, to cherish his memory. John's mother took them to church every Sunday. At the age of 12, John, his mother and two sisters moved to Midwest City, where he began his working life with a paper route. When he was older, he and a friend would go to Purcell on Saturday nights to visit his friend's family. On one of those nights, he met the love of his life, Lametha Martindale, but their romance would be put on hold when John was drafted into the US Army, in 1951. He was sent to Korea where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, U.N. Medal and three Bronze Stars. On April 10, 1953, fresh out of the Army, John and Lametha were married. John found employment at Tinker as a welder where over his career he became a certified welder in all metals. John was so proficient at his craft he would be flown with his welding unit from Tinker to Air Force Bases around the US to work on the B1 Bomber since he was considered one of the top welders. He received many Letters and Certificates of Appreciation and Letters of Commendation, Superior Performance Awards, Special Achievement Awards, Suggestion Awards, Air Force Organizational Excellence Awards, and the HI-PRO Award for excellence, productivity, and professionalism in the performance of duties from Jay Edwards, Major General, USAF Commander. April 16, 1961, his daughter, Laura was born and he described it as the proudest day of his life and he felt 9 feet tall. John was a loving father and husband who took great strides to make his family happy. Some of their happiest moments were spent fishing, camping and water skiing at Lake Eufala.
