John Elden Cassel was born April 24, 1934 in Verden, OK the son of Elbert Emry and Erma Ruth (McDowell) Cassel. He completed this life on Earth and was called to Heaven on January 27, 2022 at the age of 87.
Elden married Mary Lou Malcom on June 3, 1953. They started their journey on the Farm for a couple of years and had their first son, until his Daddy told him to go to town and get a job, so they went to Chickasha and then made their home in Oklahoma City where they raised their three sons. He started in sales, then management and bookkeeping and then was self-employed through the years. They were long time members of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where he wanted his Service, yet since it was for a Saturday was denied by the Church.
He deeply Loved his Sweetie, Family and many Friends.
Elden was preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Erma Cassel; in-laws Ruth and R B Malcom; brother Dale Cassel; nephew Fred Hill; his daughter-in-law Vicci Cassel.
Elden is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Mary Lou; his sons, Jerry Cassel and his wife Ann of Oklahoma City Ok; James Cassel and his wife Jeanette of Edmond Ok; John Elden Cassel Jr and Brenda Shurtleff of Nashua NH; granddaughter Jasmine (Cassel) Giddens of Cleveland, NC; his great grandchildren, Alexis Sherrill and De'Shaun Sherrill; his sisters, Annice (Cassel) Hill and her husband Bill of Verden, OK and Betty Ruth (Cassel) Pope and her husband Terry of Bethany, OK; and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Dale (Dorothy) Cassel of Bentonville AR. Many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces.
He will be Greatly Missed for his Stories, Love and Service to others.
We will always Love and Remember you, till we meet again.
Viewing Thursday, 10th 4-8pm & Friday, 11th from 4pm to 8pm with Funeral services 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Vondel Smith Mortuary North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery near Minco, OK
