IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Wayne
Cowart
April 25, 1955 – October 16, 2023
John Wayne Cowart, 68, of Seminole, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Integris Baptist Hospital of Oklahoma City.
Wayne was born in Cleveland, Texas on April 25, 1955 to Johnny Wayne Harkins, Sr. and Mary Alice Roberson. Shortly after, the family relocated to Bay City, Texas where Wayne grew up. During his summers, Wayne started working on the pipeline with his step-father, Clyde Cowart. This is where he learned the trade he would eventually make a living from. After graduating from Bay City High School in 1973, Wayne moved to Duchesne, Utah to work for Jim Sasnett. Wayne became a hardworking, well-known oil field machinist, and worked for several great companies before settling down in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In May of 1983, Wayne married Peggy Dale Ditmore in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they soon welcomed son, Blair Anthony Cowart that September. In his early years of marriage, Wayne enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with friends. A few years later, the family welcomed second son, Tyler Dean Cowart in May of 1985. Wayne spent many years traveling for work on the pipeline and in machine shops, which included Sasnett Machine, working for Jim and Marvin Sasnett. In November of 1994, the family welcomed daughter, Daylee Rhea Cowart. Three years later, Wayne opened C&M Precision, Inc. in 1997 with great friend, Jack Milam. He would successfully own and operate the company for 26 years.
Wayne enjoyed spending time on his ranch, taking a gamble or two on the slot machine, and of course, having his dogs around.
