Obituary

John Blackburn Kinkead Farr was born July 2, 1939 in Oklahoma City, the son of Hugh Avery and Louise (Kinkead) Farr. He completed this life at his Oklahoma City home on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the age of 85.

John graduated from Northeast High School in 1957 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor Degree in Advertising and Public relations.

He joined the Navy as the Vietnam War was escalating, graduated from Officer Candidate School, and served aboard the USS Valley Forge. His duties included Public Information Officer and he was qualified to "drive" the ship which was his absolute favorite duty.

Upon returning to Oklahoma City, John joined the Lowe Runkle Advertising Agency as a vice president. One day he was asked to coordinate a photo shoot for a client. This led him to meet his future wife- Claudia Kay (C.K.) Bailey. They were married on February 10, 1968, and made their home in Oklahoma City.

John's second career was running his own business as a Life and Employee Benefits insurance agent.

John was a past president of the Oklahoma City Advertising Club; Oklahoma Chapter of Public Relations Society; and Oklahoma City Beautiful.

John's hobbies were playing golf, watching golf on television, building model ships, and traveling. He and C.K. enjoyed cruises while visiting six continents and revisiting many favorite places.

John loved leading a Bible study group for over 30 years at the United Methodist Church of the Servant as well as serving on various church committees.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh A. Farr and Dr. Louise Kinkead Farr; and his brother Hugh Hawthorne Farr.

John is survived by his wife, C.K., son John Brady Farr; grandsons Dalton Farr and Ethan Farr; two nephews, Hugh Hawthorne Farr and Christian Kinkead Farr; one niece, Olivia Farr Mariola; and a large and loving extended family.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 10 at Church of the Servant, with inurnment following in the church columbarium.
