Obituary

John Carroll Green, age 68, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2026, after a courageous yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on June 15, 1957, to Marian Frances and Carroll Gene Green.

John shared 37 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Donna Hartzell Green. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and devotion, and were blessed with their sons, Austin Carroll Green and Peyton Trevor Green.

A graduate of Little Rock Central High School, Class of 1975, John went on to build a successful career in sales and management within the furniture industry, working with Mathis Brothers Furniture, Sight and Sound, and Factory Direct. He later spent the final 15 years of his career with Sarah Lee (Bimbo Bakeries) as a Route Sales Representative—proudly referring to himself as “the bread man.”

John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in being present for his family. Though he had three children of his own, his generous spirit and open heart made him a father figure to many. He was always willing to give his time, wisdom, and encouragement, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Known for his vibrant personality, John was truly the life of the party. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome. His infectious sense of humor could light up any room, bringing smiles and laughter wherever he went.

John felt most at peace near the water—whether at Greers Ferry Lake or on the beaches of Florida, Hawaii, or Aruba. Those moments brought him comfort and joy. He was also a passionate sports fan who loved cheering on the Sooners, Razorbacks, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Marian Green; his mother-in-law, Margie Hartzell; his father-in-law, Donald Hartzell; and his brothers-in-law, Mike, Danny, David, and Nathan Hartzell.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna; his sons, Austin and Peyton; his daughter, Tiffany; his granddaughter, Hannah; his siblings, Sandy Blankenship (James), Linda Smith (Richard), Donna McCabe (Anthony), and Dennis Green (Sharon); his sister-in-law, Debbie Glasgow; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 25, at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, 7336 W. Britton Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening, April 24, at Vondel L. Smith North 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd., Oklahoma City. Friends and family are invited to come and go between 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of John’s care team members who walked alongside him and supported the family throughout this journey. Their compassion and dedication will never be forgotten.
