IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John William
Hovarter
April 19, 1926 – July 11, 2010
HOVARTER, J.W. "John", 84, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord & Savior on Sunday, July 11, 2010. He was born April 19, 1926 in Bodcaw, AR to John & Alice Hovarter. John enlisted in the US Army Air Corp in Nov. 1944. While honorably serving his country, John married the love of his life, Doris Maxine Alberson on Oct. 11, 1945 in Hope, AR and they relocated to the OKC area after his discharge in Nov. 1946. John provided a warm & loving home for his family by working as an appliance repairman for Adams Refrigeration. He was a kind, loving, generous man who had the ability to captivate people as though they had been life-long friends. John dedicated his life to serving God, country, family and others. Along with his wife, he volunteered cooking for the OKC Capitol Hill Lions Club meetings & events. He was also a member of many organizations, including American Legion Post 0399, D.A.V. Will Rogers Chapter #29 and was a longtime member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. John served as a Deacon and on the building & grounds committee at Capitol Hill Baptist Church. A loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, and loyal friend, John led an exemplary Christian life and we take comfort in knowing he is receiving his eternal reward and reunited with Maxine. His legacy will forever live on through his family. Preceded in death by his parents, wife of 62 years, Maxine; 4 brothers, 1 sister & grandson, Nathan Hovarter. He leaves behind his children: Edgar W. Hovarter & wife, Marla, Billy R. Hovarter & wife, Debby, Tracie L. Hovarter Vaughn & husband, Jeff, and Jerry G. Hovarter & wife, Stacey; 9 grandchildren: Stefani Hovarter, Joey Hovarter & wife, Chasiti, Matt Hovarter, Jay Hovarter & wife, Kacey, Cheyenne Vaughn, Dakota Vaughn, Sierra Vaughn, Jaxon Hovarter & Miranda Hovarter; 3 great grandchildren: Jordan Stouder, Kayla Hovarter, Max Hovarter; and a host of other loving family & friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Capitol Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 304 SW 134th St, OKC, OK 73170. Viewing will be at Vondel Smith Mortuary, S.
