Obituary

Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday at Vondel Smith Mortuary South from 4-8 PM.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday March 4, 2015 at Vondel Smith Mortuary South Colonial Chapel.

John Curtis Morris of Moore, Oklahoma, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 1, 2015 at 89 years of age. He was born May 15, 1925 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to George Washington and Beulah Isa Morris. He graduated from Justice High School in Wewoka, Oklahoma. John entered the United States Navy on April 26, 1944, serving on the USS Castle Rock in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. He was honorably discharged on January 27, 1946. He had a long career in the trucking business. Following an early retirement, he went to work with Honegger Construction. Fishing was his favorite past time. While employed with Honegger, he enjoyed many successful fishing trips to Alaska. John was a celebrity in the local newspaper after catching a thirty five pound fish on one of his fishing trips. John had a great sense of humor which he kept through all adversity. His friendly disposition drew others to him. He had great friendships. A very special friendship was formed with Norma Jean Miller. He leaves behind precious memories with his family and friends and will be missed by all. John was preceded in death by his: Parents; Wife ~ Minnie Morris; Five siblings; and One Grandson He is survived by his: Children ~ Linda Borrison and husband, Richard of Sunnyvale, California, Susan Barker and husband, Darrell of Shelton, Washington, John Morris and wife, Michele of Oklahoma City, Curt Morris and wife, Sharon of Jones, Oklahoma, Beth Garland of Harrah, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Snow and husband, Ed of Choctaw, Oklahoma; Sister ~ Betty Jo Nichols; Fifteen Grand-children; Sixteen Great grand-children; Step-children Tony Brice and Rick Brice; and Numerous other loving extended family members and friends.
