John S. Perry age 90 of Elgin, Oklahoma formerly of Roswell, New Mexico went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2012. John was born June 9, 1922 to Roy F. and Nettie D. Perry in Oakwood, Texas. In the early 1940s he joined the CCC and was sent to New Mexico where he met and married Nina June Elam on June 9, 1943 in Roswell. Together they had five children, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. They shared 69 years together. He served in the United States Army during WWII. John was an Exxon Wholesale Commission Agent in Roswell until 1979. During this time he also served as Police Commissioner and as a City Councilman in Roswell. After moving to Oklahoma in 1979 he owned and operated Ralph's Resort Concession and Marina at Lake Ellsworth. John was of the Baptist faith. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Past Master of the Elgin Pilot Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing with Nina to the music of Bob Wills, and coffee and tall tales with his buddies at Ralph's.
Survivors include his wife Nina; sons, Glenn and wife Anne of Edmond, Steve and wife Sandy of Tuttle; daughters, Connie Chesser and husband Ross of Roswell, NM, Trudy Adkins and husband Bob of Edmond; brothers, Carroll and Don Perry of Texas; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Radie Perry and eldest son, John T. Perry.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Gose and staff, Dr. Agte and staff, Sooner Dialysis, the Staff at Tuscany Village Nursing Center-Oklahoma City, and Sooner Hospice.
