BENSON, Joleta, age 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 28, 2008. She was born in Lula, Oklahoma on February 21, 1934. Her family lived on a farm and she looked forward to Saturdays when they would go to town in their horse drawn wagon. At age 13, her family moved to Oklahoma City and she attended Jackson Jr. High and Capitol Hill High School. On March 7, 1952 she married Paul Benson. They graduated together in May, 1952. She had four daughters and the cleanest house around. Joleta was known for her devotion to her family and her outstanding cooking abilities. Paul and Joleta began building homes in 1962 and when Paul was at the fire station, she built the homes. From 1984 to 1987 Joleta was a homebuilder all on her own. She had a special talent for needlepoint and floral decorations. Joleta's greatest joys in life were spending time with her family and enjoying the ballgames and activities of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.M. and Ara Oliver, brothers, Elmo Oliver, Newell Oliver and sister Otela Scrivner. She is survived by husband, Paul Benson, daughters, Sheryl and Russ Adamson, Cristy and Steve Trimble, Randie and Kenny Rolke, Brenda and Marc Woodard, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and brother James Oliver. Viewing will be at Vondel Smith and Son Mortuary at South Lakes, 4000 SW 119th Street, this evening from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Harvest Assembly of God Church, 4019 S. Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Graveside services to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
