Jonathan "Kouri" Scott Mahoney, age 34, passed away Friday June 17th, 2022 in Norman, Oklahoma. Kouri was born May 26th, 1988 in Oklahoma City. His parents are Timothy A. Mahoney and Terenna K.M. Salter. Kouri and his sister Kyla, who loves him so much, were raised in Moore, Oklahoma where they attended school. Kouri played soccer for Broadway Elementary, football for Highland East Jr. High but his true passion came to light when he attended Westmoore High School and began wrestling. Kouri later graduated from Thunderbird Military Academy in Pryor, Oklahoma. In his teenage years, Kouri attended Wilmont Place Baptist Church, and was saved in 1998.
Kouri loved riding motorcycles and spending the day with his dad. Every other weekend they would ride, stop, eat and see a movie. Kouri was a total movie buff, he & his dad would often quote movie lines together while ending in hysterical laughter cracking up anyone who was in the room. Many times they attended OU football games & Thunder Basketball games. Since 1999 Kouri and his sister Kyla had enjoyed the lake life with their mom & step dad Kevin. Boating, tubing & skiing at Lake Texoma was summer life. Family vacations were also a must. His mom always new how to keep them entertained during the summer & winter months, traveling from the East coast to the West coast. His favorite vacation spot was Breckenridge Colorado. He mastered snowboarding without taking classes and loved making fun of his mom Kevin & Kyla on the greens.
Earlier in his life, one of his jobs was working at Hair Rage Salon helping his mom with her business. He developed a strong bond with the salon family and was even featured in a TV commercial. One day he saw an ad for Express personnel needing models. He never modeled before but thought why not, so he contacted Express and went through several grueling interviews, poses, head shots, wardrobe changes along with hair and make-up. He said to Kyla, "Sis there's no way I'm going to get picked, these people are professionals with portfolios." One week went by he hadn't heard a word, and then he got the phone call that he was chosen Top 3 out of 3000 applicants. To this day his photo will be used for national campaigns.
Family meant everything to Kouri and he knew he wanted to have his own one day. On May 30th, 2014 Kouri married Katy Beverly from Seal Beach, California where they resided in Yukon, Oklahoma, she gave birth to their 1st born son Lincoln A. Mahoney now age 7. Kouri worked hard to provide for his family and was very successful with his company Prestige Auto Detailing. He started Prestige while in a wheelchair due to a work accident from his previous job. He took a lot of pride in his work and was very detailed oriented. Kouri was very successful and had numerous repeat clients and rave reviews from his customers.
As life happens Kouri & Katy mutually agreed to go their separate ways, keeping their #1 Focus on Lincoln. Kouri's business grew rapidly during this time. He then started dating Breanna Whetstone and on December 17th, 2018 Bre gave birth to Bentley K.M. Mahoney, Kouri's 2rd son where they reside in Amber, Oklahoma. Kouri formed a bond with his two boys that he loved so much, he enjoyed taking them to Frontier City, Whitewater Bay, Science Museum, The Zoo and the local parks or just holding them and letting them know how much he loved them.
Kouri had a Passion for helping people, he would put together care packages with personal hygiene items and food and he would give these out to others in need. Lending a helping hand was the example he wanted to set not only to his boys but for everyone. He did this out of love and expected noting in return. Kouri had a contagious laugh and his smile lit up the room. He made lasting impression with many people he met through the years. He was generous with his friends and family and will be truly missed by all.
Kouri was preceded in death by his grandfather, Earl Mahoney; and his brother, Richard "Ricky" Lopez. He is survived by his father, Tim Mahoney and fiancé Josie; mother Terenna Salter and step dad Kevin Salter, sister Kyla Mahoney and her son Ezra; sister Rachel Carter-Lopez and her children Callie, Chloe & Chance; Bailey Rudlang and her children Braxton & Kateleja; brother Stephen Lopez and his children Elizabeth, Benecio, Nino; grandmother Shirley Mahoney; grandparents Linda and Darwin Cox; grandparents Kathy and Ed Elvord; grandparents Patsy and Freddie Medina; son Lincoln, and his mother Katy Mahoney; son, Bentley, and his mother Breanna Whetstone; Richard D.
