IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joni Allison
Case
March 11, 1944 – December 26, 2025
Joni Allison Case passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025 at the age of 81. Joni was born March 11, 1944, in Woodville, OK, to John Alan and Mrytle Elizabeth Freeman. After her father's passing in World War II, when Joni was just 6 months old, she was then raised by her mother and stepfather, Dale McCuan.
Joni wore many hats during her 81 years… wife, mother, grandmother, and most recently: great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she never met a stranger that she wouldn't try to instantly befriend and strike up a conversation with. She was a great friend to all who knew her and a constant, loving support for her family. On June 20, 1981, Joni married her forever love, Lewis Case, at Will Rogers Park Rose Garden in Oklahoma City, OK. She was the mother of three sons: Rick, Sean and Patrick. She was a loving grandmother to her three grandsons: Brendon, Jakob and Jeremy.
After graduating from Capitol Hill High School, she went on to attend the University of Oklahoma where she received both a Bachelor and Master degree in psychology. Joni then worked as a counselor at Oklahoma City Community College for many years, and then at Southwest Airlines, from which she retired from in 2004.
Joni loved her church community at Church of the Servant, where she and Lewis were members for 43 years. She and Lewis were founding members of the Seekers Class. Joni was very involved in various church activities, especially anything to do with arts & crafts. She loved attending her weekly "Crafty Sisters" group with a wonderful group of ladies where they would get together to participate in arts & crafts and scrapbooking, all while catching up on the weekly gossip.
Joni was also very much a world traveler. In their 44 years together, Joni and Lewis traveled to pretty much everywhere, some places more than once. She took her love of scrapbooking and traveling, and combined them. She took great pride in making picture books of their many travels over the years. She would love to tell stories to anyone who would listen about the places she visited. However, Joni's all-time favorite tradition was spending time with her family and friends down at Lake Texoma, at their family property. She enjoyed having annual family reunions and Christmas parties down there with those closest to her. She always was looking for a reason to take a weekend getaway or spend weeks in the summer with the grandkids at the lake.
Joni was preceded in death by her parents; father John; mother Myrtle; stepfather, Dale; son, Sean Smith; and siblings: Willie Stokes, Opal Cargill, John Loyd Stokes, Ben McCuan and Wayne McCuan.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Lewis Case; son, Rick and daughter-in-law, Stephanie, of Guthrie, OK; son. Patrick Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons: Brendon Smith of Oklahoma City, OK, Jeremy Smith of Yukon, OK, and Jakob Smith of Anchorage, AK; great-grandchildren: Nolan James Smith, Declan Rossi Smith and Gracelyn Noelle Smith; her siblings: Mrytle Folsom of Ada, OK, Glenn McCuan and wife, Susan, of Grand Prairie, TX and Joy Smith and husband, Steve, of Oklahoma City, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association in Joni's memory.
