Joyce Lee Buerger went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the age of 89. The daughter of Bessie Ada (Mercer) and Oscar Lee Bell, Joyce was born on October 27, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Joyce grew up in Oklahoma City area and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1954. She fell in love with Richard Lee Buerger after meeting him at Buerger Brothers Grocery Store. The two were united in holy matrimony on September 27, 1956. This union of marriage was blessed with four children. In addition to being a loving wife and devoted mother, Joyce also worked outside of the home as a butcher, alongside her husband, at their longtime family business, Buerger Brothers Grocery on South Harvey in downtown Oklahoma City in the area known as the Hummingbird Park. When Joyce wasn't working, she could often be found enjoying activities such as gardening, crocheting, working puzzles and coloring. She appreciated handmade items as she knew the time and effort involved in creating them. The family made many enjoyable trips to Lake Hiwassee. Joyce loved and cared for her family very deeply and spent time with them making many wonderful memories with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her spunk and missed each day. Joyce was preceded in death by her: Parents, Bessie and Oscar Bell; Husband of more than 56 years, Richard Lee Buerger; Daughter, Bonnie Mullin; Twin Sister, JoAnn Jones. She leaves behind her loving family: Son, Rick Buerger and his wife, Charlene Daughter, Barbara Karber Son, Earnest Buerger Grandchildren: Chris, Eric, Larry, Stephen and Matthew Great-Grandchildren: Aiden, Claire, Brady, Madison and Juliet; Sister, Naomi Pearson.
