IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce Alice
Stewart
May 27, 1939 – October 19, 2025
Joyce Alice Stewart, 86, of Newcastle passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Norman Regional Healthplex.
Joyce was born May 27, 1939 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to James and Iva Head. She married Josh Stroud on June 23, 1955 and they were blessed with 5 Children, James, Jeff, Jerrel, Jolene and Jody. Joyce was a loving wife and mother. She was a wonderful homemaker and always made sure her family was her top priority.
Joyce and her family moved often while Josh was in the Air Force. They lived in Italy, California, and Nebraska. After Josh was discharged, he and his family owned and operated Stroud Farms which was a pepper farm. Joyce and her family were strong Christians and helped start Highland Baptist Church in Moore. Josh passed away in 1991 and Joyce's family and friends drew close to her as she navigated this new chapter in her life.
Joyce married Billy Ray Stewart in February 9, 1996 at Highland Baptist Church. With this union, Joyce gained 4 new daughters Trena, Dena, Clarice, and Denice. Joyce and Billy moved to Lake Arbuckle for a few years and enjoyed spending time in traveling and getting involved with the local community. They later moved to Newcastle and became members at First Baptist Church of Newcastle. They were faithful members for many years.
Joyce enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cross stitching, and baking but her favorite pastime was reading. She passed this love for reading, sewing, and crocheting onto her children.
