January 27, 1955 – April 20, 2024
Juan Carlos Tapia was born January 27, 1955 in Lima, Peru the son of Emiliano Marino and Florencia (Duran) Tapia. He went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Oklahoma City at the age of 69.
Juan was raised in Lima until he immigrated to the United States settling in Oklahoma City. Juan started working as a bookkeeper/accounting assistant after completing his education in Perú. After immigrating to Oklahoma City in 1974, he worked at a restaurant, and then as a painter. He was always very meticulous and proud of his work as a painter. He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Evans Furniture Store.
Juan enjoyed music especially playing his guitar. He was always a fighter and his strong faith in God helped him to have courage to deal with multiple sclerosis for 30 years. Juan loved spending time with his family and was always interested in learning more about his grandnieces and grandnephews and seeing photos and videos of their activities. He enjoyed eating and spending quality time with family. He will be remembered by his faith in God and for being a warrior, living the best life possible with multiple sclerosis for 30 years.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alfredo Tapia.
Juan is survived by his sisters, Gladys Montoya and her husband Nestor and Marleny Reyes and her husband Edward; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Recitation of the Rosary will be 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 8th in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Thursday, May 9th in the Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, 7801 NW Expressway. Interment will be in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
