Juanita Amos went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the age of 86. She was born March 1, 1923 in Valiant, Oklahoma to her parents, William Thomas and Georgia (Collins) Burton. After moving to Oklahoma City in 1942, Juanita met Charles Eugene Amos and they were later united in marriage on October 17, 1943. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Shirley in 1949. Juanita worked for Guaranty Laundry Service for a short time before Juanita's husband Charles surrendered his life and answered the Lord's calling to serve in ministry fulltime. With a loving spirit, Juanita supported Charles' ministry by faithfully serving along his side during their 60 years in ministry. Juanita dedicated her talents and time having served in capacities within the four church congregations Charles pastured in 50 years. Juanita and Charles first accepted the call to pastor at Banner Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma before serving as pastor at Meridian Avenue Baptist Church for 13 ½ years. There after, they were called to serve at the First Southern Baptist Church in Colten, California for 4 years before returning back to the Oklahoma City area to lead the congregation of Rancho Village Baptist Church until their retirement in 1990. Juanita used her gifts of organization by keeping the church kitchens clean, tidy, stocked and staff organized for dinners and events. She also had an exceptional ability to engage people from all walks of life and bring them to actively participate in church worship and activities. Juanita also enjoyed sewing, making hand cafts, and was an excellent cook. She was especially famous for her delicious banana pudding.
