Obituary

Julia Blanton Fletcher was born February 2, 1936 to HM Fletcher and Julia Bolton Fletcher in Atlanta, GA. She was called Judy at birth and had a younger brother, Herbert Maddox (Mac) Fletcher. She grew up in Jackson, GA where she graduated from Jackson High School with honors. Then she attended Wesleyan College in Macon, GA where she graduated with honors in 1958 with a Teaching Certificate.

In April 1957 she attended a national collegiate convention in Denver, Colorado where she met George Edward Cannon who was attending the same national convention. He grew up in Oklahoma City and was attending Oklahoma State University from which he graduated in 1958. They were married on June 15, 1958 making their permanent residence in Oklahoma City where they began their married life together.

Judy and George had three children George Edward (Ed) Cannon, Jr., Steven Fletcher Cannon and Julie Ann Cannon Valentine. Their son, Ed, was an Electrical Engineer with Boeing/Wichita and married Vickie Glancy of Wichita, KS and they have two sons, Matthew and Miles. Matthew is a software engineer for NetApp in Wichita, KS. Miles is the senior process engineer for MilliporeSigma in Overland Park, KS Son, Steve, is Vice-President of Sales at Sprint Waste Services in Fulshear, TX. Steve married Stephanie Price and they have three children, US Army Nurse Capt. Madison, US Army Nurse Lt. Ashton and Gillian. Madison is stationed in Belton, TX, Ashton is stationed in North Carolina and Gillian attends Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. Judy and George Cannon's third child is daughter, Julie and she married Wray Valentine and they live in Garden City, KS. The Valentines have two children, Taryn and Eli. Taryn is the digital social media coordinator at OSU Center for Health Science in Tulsa. Eli is pursuing a degree in food service in Stillwater.

Judy Cannon developed lung cancer with which she struggled since 2011. It metastasized to her brain and she passed away on March 23rd 2022. She was met and welcomed in to Heaven by her loving Heavenly Father. Her funeral will be in the Chapel at the United Methodist Church of the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73142 at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 29th. She greatly appreciated the loving care she received along her health journey from her oncologist, Dr. Charles Hollen and Russell-Murray Hospice.
